Bluetooth Availability and Setup Windows
On PlugStream 7S (PS-7S) and PlugStream 7T (PS-7T) charge points running firmware version 1.42.0 or later, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is available when it is needed for commissioning, Wi-Fi recovery, or support. It does not remain on continuously during normal online operation.
Bluetooth switching off does not stop charging and does not disconnect the charger from Wi-Fi, Ethernet, 4G, or PlugStream Cloud.
When Bluetooth is available
| Charger condition | Bluetooth behaviour |
|---|---|
| First 10 minutes after power-on | Bluetooth is available for installer commissioning or local setup. |
| Charger has been offline for about 5 minutes | Bluetooth becomes available again so Wi-Fi details can be recovered or changed. |
| A phone or installer device is connected over Bluetooth | The charger does not deliberately switch Bluetooth off during the active connection. |
| Recent Bluetooth connection or disconnection | Bluetooth remains available for up to 30 minutes after the most recent activity. |
| Charger is online, the 10-minute startup window has ended, and there has been no recent Bluetooth activity | Bluetooth switches off during normal operation. |
| PlugStream Support has opened a temporary service window | Bluetooth remains available until support returns it to automatic control or the charger restarts. A support-forced window is not saved across a restart. |
| A critical firmware update is in progress | Bluetooth may be unavailable until the update and restart have completed. |
The charger reviews these conditions every 30 seconds. A change may therefore happen slightly after the stated 5-, 10-, or 30-minute point.
If the app cannot find the charger
- Stay close to the charger and confirm the phone has Bluetooth switched on.
- Confirm the MyPlugStream or PlugStream Installer app has permission to use Bluetooth and nearby devices.
- If the charger was just powered on, scan again during the first 10 minutes.
- If the charger is offline, leave it powered for at least 5 minutes, then scan again.
- If the charger is online and its startup window has ended, contact PlugStream Support to request a temporary service window, or safely restart the charger to open a new 10-minute window.
Use only the dedicated charge point isolator or protective device when a safe restart is required. Do not open the charger enclosure. Do not switch the charger off while a critical firmware update is in progress; a solid purple status indicator means the update should be allowed to finish.
During installer commissioning
Power the charger on only when you are ready to begin app commissioning. Start the Bluetooth scan within the first 10 minutes.
Once the app connects, the firmware protects the active connection and keeps a recent-activity window available so that completing Ethernet or 4G setup does not end the commissioning session at the 10-minute boundary.
If commissioning is interrupted for more than 30 minutes after the last Bluetooth activity, open a new setup window before resuming.
If behaviour is different
Older firmware versions may manage Bluetooth differently. Keep the charger connected to PlugStream services so approved firmware updates can be installed, and include the firmware version when asking PlugStream Support for help.
