Can I use my PlugStream charger while it is offline?

In many cases, yes. A PlugStream charger may still be able to charge while it has no internet connection, but the experience depends on the charging mode, site setup, and whether the charger needs online services before it can authorise or schedule charging.

What may still work

Your charger may continue to deliver a charge if:

  • the charger has power
  • the vehicle is ready to accept charge
  • the charger is not locked, disabled, or faulted
  • the current charging mode allows local charging
  • the installation does not need live site data before charging can start

If the charger is in a simple automatic charging mode, plugging in may be enough once the vehicle requests energy.

What may be limited while offline

When the charger is offline, you may not have:

  • live Charger readiness in the MyPlugStream app
  • remote start, stop, or mode changes
  • tariff-aware charging updates
  • firmware updates
  • live support diagnostics
  • complete session data in the app

Schedules, smart charging, and load balancing can also behave differently if the charger needs cloud data or live site telemetry.

If charging does not start while offline

Check:

  1. The charger has power.
  2. The LED is not red.
  3. The vehicle is plugged in correctly and unlocked if required.
  4. The vehicle does not have its own schedule or battery limit holding the session.
  5. The charger is not set to a mode that needs app approval before charging.

If the app says Charger offline, reconnecting the charger is the best next step.
