Should I schedule charging in the car or MyPlugStream?

For the clearest experience, use one main place to control your charging schedule. For many PlugStream customers, that should be the MyPlugStream app.

Why using two schedules can cause confusion

If both the car and MyPlugStream have schedules, either one can hold charging.

For example:

  • MyPlugStream may allow charging, but the car may not request energy yet
  • the car may request energy, but MyPlugStream may be waiting for an off-peak window
  • the app may show the charger is ready while the vehicle is still waiting
  • the car may stop charging at a battery limit even though the charger schedule is still active

This can look like a charger problem when both systems are simply following different instructions.

Use MyPlugStream for:

  • charger schedules
  • PlugStream Sense
  • tariff-aware charging where available
  • ready-by planning where available
  • charger-level control and visibility

Use the vehicle app for:

  • maximum battery percentage
  • battery preconditioning
  • vehicle departure settings that do not conflict with the charger
  • vehicle-specific limits that the charger cannot control

If charging does not start

Check both apps once:

  1. MyPlugStream charging mode and Charger readiness.
  2. Vehicle battery limit.
  3. Vehicle schedule or departure time.
  4. Whether the vehicle is asleep or waiting.

Then remove duplicate schedules so there is one clear charging plan.

If you use a MyPlugStream schedule and your vehicle sometimes does not wake when the charging window starts, Vehicle Wake Assist may help on supported chargers.
