Personalise Your Charger Lighting
On supported PlugStream chargers, you can choose how the light looks while the charger is idle, select a custom colour, adjust its daytime brightness, and dim it automatically at night.
These settings change the appearance of the charger without changing how it charges. Charging, status, and fault indications still appear when needed.
Where to find the lighting controls
In the MyPlugStream app
- Open the MyPlugStream app.
- Select your charger.
- Open Settings.
- Expand Device lighting.
In PlugStream Cloud
- Open the charge point in PlugStream Cloud.
- Select Settings.
- Open the Lighting tab.
The names and layout may vary slightly with screen size or app version.
Does custom colour include a colour picker?
Yes. The custom standby colour control includes a visual colour picker.
- In PlugStream Cloud, select the colour field to open the visual picker. You can also enter a six-digit hex colour such as
#FF6A00. - In the MyPlugStream app, tap the colour swatch to use your phone's native colour picker. For an exact colour, edit the hex value shown beside it.
The custom colour is available when the standby light style is Classic or Glow. It is disabled for Aurora, Sparkle, and Stealth because those styles do not use a single custom colour.
Standby light styles
| Style | How the charger looks while idle | Uses your custom colour? |
|---|---|---|
| Classic | A solid standby light | Yes |
| Glow | A gently breathing standby light | Yes |
| Aurora | A rotating colour gradient | No |
| Sparkle | Changing random colours | No |
| Stealth | Looks switched off while idle | No |
Stealth only hides the idle light. Charging, status, and fault indications still appear.
Adjust daytime brightness
Use LED brightness to set the normal brightness from 0% to 100%. This level applies during the day to the standby, charging, status, and fault lights.
Dim the lights automatically at night
Turn on Dim lights at night to set:
- the time night dimming starts
- the time night dimming ends
- the night brightness from 0% to 100%
The times use UK local time. Overnight periods such as 22:00 to 06:00 work automatically. The start and end times must be different.
A night brightness of 0% switches the normal lights off during the dimming period. Red fault indications remain visible at the daytime brightness you selected.
Charging lights are dimmed during the night period too. Night dimming does not reduce charging power or change your charging schedule.
Save your changes
Select Save Lighting after making changes. Choosing a standby style may be applied immediately, but use Save Lighting to make sure all brightness, colour, and night-time settings are stored.
If the charger is offline, the change may be queued and applied after it reconnects. The app or portal will show when a lighting update has been queued.
Firmware availability
Full light personalisation requires charger firmware v1.46.0 or later.
On older firmware, you may only see the LED brightness control. PlugStream normally manages charger firmware updates automatically. See Firmware Updates for more information.
If the controls are missing or unavailable
Check that:
- the charger is running firmware v1.46.0 or later
- the charger is online
- your account has permission to change charger settings
- the app is up to date
If a saved change does not appear immediately, wait for the charger to reconnect and refresh the page. If the controls remain unavailable, contact PlugStream Support with the charger serial number, firmware version, and a screenshot of the lighting settings.
