Maintenance and Cleaning
Your PlugStream charger is designed for normal outdoor use when correctly installed. Simple visual checks and careful cleaning help keep it safe and easy to use.
Regular visual checks
Check the charger regularly for:
- cracks, dents, or impact damage
- loose mounting or movement on the wall
- damaged cable, connector, or socket
- exposed conductors or damaged pins
- signs of overheating, burning smell, or discolouration
- water inside the enclosure or connector
- missing or damaged labels and rating plate
If anything looks unsafe, stop using the charger and contact your installer or PlugStream Support.
Cleaning the charger
Clean the outside of the charger with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth.
Do not use:
- pressure washers
- hose pipes directed at the charger
- abrasive pads
- solvents
- bleach
- spray cleaners directed into sockets, vents, seams, or cable entries
Do not open the charger enclosure for cleaning.
Cable care
If your charger has a tethered cable or you use a separate charging cable:
- keep the cable away from sharp edges
- do not drive over the cable
- do not trap the cable under doors or garage doors
- do not leave the connector in standing water
- store the cable so it does not create a trip hazard
- fully uncoil the cable before use
After bad weather or impact
After high winds, flooding, building work, or accidental impact, visually check the charger before use.
If the charger has been hit, submerged, pulled away from the wall, or shows a red fault state, stop using it and contact your installer.
