What does a blank or no-power LED mean?

If the charger LED is blank, the charger may not have power, may be restarting, or may need installer attention.

Quick checks

Check:

  • whether there is a power cut at the property
  • whether the EV charger circuit breaker or RCBO is switched on
  • whether other appliances on the same supply are working
  • whether the charger recently restarted after an update or power interruption

Do not open the charger enclosure or remove covers. EV charger circuits can be dangerous and should only be inspected by a competent person.

If the circuit breaker has tripped

If the EV charger circuit breaker has tripped once, you may be able to reset it if it is safe and accessible.

Do not repeatedly reset a breaker that trips again. A repeated trip can indicate a fault with the circuit, installation, charger, or vehicle.

When to get help

Contact your installer or PlugStream Support if:

  • the LED stays blank after checking the supply
  • the breaker trips again
  • the charger looks damaged
  • you smell burning or notice heat damage
  • the charger was recently installed or moved

For power cuts or suspected local supply issues in the UK, call 105 to reach your Distribution Network Operator.
